I found this one on an obscure site suggested to me by a friend. AT first, I was driven by my curiosity to listen to just about anything with the “tech death” tag on it and after a few bad albums that I had to endure, I didnt expect much from the album. But after getting through a few tracks, I was a fan.

Considering the fact that I know as much about musical technicalities as the moral police about whats right for the masses, let me cut to the chase and try to string together what the music meant to me. The moment I see anything with a tech death tag on it, I expect harsh vocals, insanely fast drums and riffs which make me wonder, “is this the same track I’m listening to?”. Tracks like “Fear”, “Faces” , “eaten” and “Dissovled” were my personal favorites in the album.

I dont really know how popular the band or their music is, but this is one must have for tech death fans!

Being a hardcore thrash and tech death fan, slow paced music is something I could’nt really assimilate that easily. The only ‘drone song’ that appealed to me was Black Sabbath, considered the pioneer for the funeral doom genre. Thergothon are widely belived to be the first ever funeral doom band and have inspired many bands. Sadly, the band split up only two years after forming in 1991,

Tracks like “elemental” from their only album “Streams From The Heavens” are epic. But be warned, these tracks do get monotonous after a while, so listen to them only when in the mood. A glass of rum and a cigareette in the hand along with rains is the background is the perfect setting in which you can listen to the album.
