No I’m not talking about diarrhoea/cholera/typhoid/jaundice here. By relapse I mean random songs that you heard and liked ages ago suddenly playing in your head and you having an insatiable urge to listen to them over and over again. Relapses could last from anything between a day to weeks on end(My personal record is 3 weeks, I spent almost a total of 6 hours listening to Future Breed Machine by Meshuggah). Relapses mostly occur randomly in my life. I could go months with the same music and then suddenly I end up listening to something that I liked about a deacde ago.

now I’m sleepy.

no seriously.

We all encounter it. So do I. People associate boredom with idleness and lethargy. Boredom is oft known to drive people to fall to new depths to kill time. But it isnt always so, take me for an example, sheer boredom drove me to resume posting over here again. I wouldnt say that the results have been awesome but hey, its a start. Boredom coupled with lack of sleep is a different ballgame altogether. Individually, boredom and lack of sleep cause nothing but anarchy but when the forces combine, a new burst of creativity(or insanity) is created. For example, as of now I’m bored AND sleep deprived and lookie lookie, I came up with a paragraph in less than 1 minute already.

Never underestimate the power of boredom. Its the sheer lack of things to do that drives a man to do something new. After a particularly long and monotonous day, an hour of boredom is essential to revitalize and refresh the overburdened grey cells. Boredom is often confused with idleness but let em tell you that they’re entirely two different entities. Idleness demands the lack of activity while boredom can hit you even when you’re in the midst of something seemingly exciting. Getting bored mid-way into a task often results in abominations(or the powerfuff girls) and must be avoided at all costs.

If at all you choose to ignore the power of boredom and want to purge yourself of it, then feel free to IM random people on your list that theres a bug on your wall and as them their opinion on what should be done of it. Personal experience dictates that such conversations often last over an hour, giving you ample time to get rif of the boredom-ness in you.

First, let me begin by saying that this is not something you’d probably expect an in game creep to come up with but the injustice we endure daily is simply too much and we cant stand it any longer. The following is the list of our complaints and we demand that they be looked into ASAP!

1) We’re the reason the heroes can parade around the map with fancy “+20 to all stats”, “+ 60 damage” equips. We demand a better bounty on our heads. I don’t think it’d be too painful to increase the cost of items accordingly. A measly average of 50 gold on our death is nothing short of an insult to the contribution we make to the game.

2)As I mentioned before, we’re the reason a hero can afford anything above the start game ironwood branch stackfest. If that wasn’t enough, we’re forced to rush soviet style into towers. We dont honestly mind death due to creep-on-creep skirmish but a fight that we have no chance of winning is something we will NOT tolerate.

3)We’re aware that our existence on the map is short lived and we’re not meant to last the whole game but I’d appreciate it if we’d get some time to look around, fuck with the NC’s and shit. Our life is entirely too short and we want to live more of it.

4)Ultimates of some heroes like Shadow Fiend, Sand king, Tidehunter, Warlock etc often result in a massacre of our kind which is kind of sad. Sure, go ahead and spam all the AoE skills you want but at least maintain the sanctity of the map and spare us the wrath of the mindless battle that the heroes indulge in.

5)Lastly, we’re terribly underskilled for someone on whom the whole game depends on. We’re not asking for a 900 damage nuke , but a simple MS and AS bonus for the Melee creeps and a slow for the ranged ones would make lane battles for us a bit more challenging(much like the ‘ganks’ that we hear about every now and then).

We’ve been silent too long and we shall no longer suffer in silence. Expect a ful rebellion from our side if our demands are not met within the release of DOTA AllStars 6.67

We’ve had more than our share of “omigawd the world’s gonna end ” movies and frankly, I didn’t expect much from this one and halfway through the ordeal, the remnants of my expectations were blown off right before my eyes. The movie kicks off with a run of the mill all american Bob and Sally family who’re divorced and blah blah blah. This is followed by a lot of cracks on the road, “The end is near, fear God signs ” and the main man Arnie going “theres nothing wrong” in true terminator style. The icing on the cake HAS to be Indian ‘astrophysicist’ TSUNAMI SATANAM and his pseudo firang “Samaan bandh lo, ham jaa rahe hai” accent.
As if the cliche wasn’t enough, the family HAS to go on a ‘camping trip’ to yellowstone park which turns out to be cordoned off by the government, where the family bumps into a renegade “the government is evil” hippie who ‘predicted it all’. Wow like we’ve never seen THAT before. Some ‘this is top secret sir, please move out’ , “I wanna pee daddy” and “the government is evil” later, the scene of a volcano erupting and grandpa hippie giving his last broadcast while there are rocks flying all around him is simply devoid of any hyme of reason.
Here begins the most intellectually redundant part of the movie. The ‘family’ gets back home and acting upon a tipoff given by grandpa hippie himself, the whole state of California and Vegas begins to ’sink’ into the earth and our heroes use the most sinister escape route ever- a CAR.
Near misses were always effective in creating a tense atmosphere in movies. But when you have about 120 of them time after time, the sequence becomes nothing short of a ROFLMAO fest!
The rest of the movie drags on and on and on and the world is a happier place and blah blah blah

Theres a lot more I’d like to add here but I’m kind of lazy now so Kapeesh!

Ok, now I know that my presence here is in par with the presence of the MP’s in the parliament sessions( I made a lame political joke ha ha ha…) but thanks to a bad case of garena and facebook addiction, the idea of updating this baby was not as enticing as taking the “how many pubic hair will you lose in the next hour” quiz. So getting back to the topic, which is an assortment of some encounters I had that deserve to be immortalized electronically.

Encounter 1- So here I was randomly Facebook-ing away when a pal of mine pings me. We discucc what 2 normal 20 year old hot blooded metalheads would(READ:Gigs). An excrept of the epic conversation

and there were a few mirrors in there

dude

they had steam stuck on it
6:43pmAnil

steam stck on it?
6:43pm\m/

we were coming out after every song for some fresh air

the thing that haoppens after water melts

it was pn the mirrors
6:44pmAnil

water melts?

wow

please

this is epic!
6:44pm\m/

screw im not a science student

I have never doubted our education system more than I did at that moment.

P.S- No offense mate, but that statement was too epic to be ingored.

Encounter 2

We all know how crowded local trains can get and that day was no better. Here I was low on sleep and mildly hung over from the party I had last night(thanks for that one snakey..) at Seawoods station pacing away waiting for the all essential 9:22 which arrives promptly and I manage to find(READ: Mosh, kick, punch etc..) my way in. Exasperated and low on sleep I barely manage to cling to something and hope I reach my destination conscious. In the train I overheard two n00bs(AKA First year engineering students) chatting away, mocking professors and doing stuff that an averafe n00b would. The conversation between them is something that brings a smile to my face in the darkest of moments.

(the following conversation was in Marathi so I loosely translated it here)

N00b1: Aye, do you play CounterStrike
N00b2: Yeah, I’m adept at sniping
N00b1: Yeah, I’m good at Deagling.
N00b2: Forget CounterStrike, I found out about a new came called “CONVERT OPS”(Covert ops for those who didnt get it…)

As addled as my brain was at that moment, those words corroded my brain for all of eternity.

And I thought I saw it all

I found this one on an obscure site suggested to me by a friend. AT first, I was driven by my curiosity to listen to just about anything with the “tech death” tag on it and after a few bad albums that I had to endure, I didnt expect much from the album. But after getting through a few tracks, I was a fan.

Considering the fact that I know as much about musical technicalities as the moral police about whats right for the masses, let me cut to the chase and try to string together what the music meant to me. The moment I see anything with a tech death tag on it, I expect harsh vocals, insanely fast drums and riffs which make me wonder, “is this the same track I’m listening to?”. Tracks like “Fear”, “Faces” , “eaten” and “Dissovled” were my personal favorites in the album.

I dont really know how popular the band or their music is, but this is one must have for tech death fans!

Thanks to intermittent internet and an ancient undead PC that absolutely refuses to comply with me, I was unable to post here for quiet some time. The last 2 days I was far away from civilization,in a far desolate corner of the planet known as Pimpri. When I came to know that college starts on the 20th of the month, I decided that I had to do SOMETHING that I could remember these vacations with. So off to pimpri it was to visit a college pal of mine who lurks there. The moment my morning coffee turned out to be hideous, I knew that I was in for a harrowing time after that. Then I was off for some, heavy lifting which involved stuffing me with just about every food item one could see in a one mile radius. Finally after realising that one can burden a man only so much , I was let off on my journey for eternal salvation :S. At the bus stop, I was made to wait for an hour before realizing that I had to backtrack some distance before I could even dream of getting into a bus. After nearly an hour of dilly dallying about, I finally found my way into one of the freelance vehicles that ply along that route. The ride itself was not bad and would have been better had it not been for the annoying music that blasted from the cars radio and interfered with the Meshuggah playing from my player. 2 or maybe 3 hours later, I got off a good half a kilometer away from my destination and when told that I overshot the place, I decided to walk the distance(NOT the smartest move I made that day…) A not-so-pleasant walk followed by an undead bike that refused to start , I was finally there. Then the rodents moshing in my tummy decided to rebel and I could take no more of the lack of nutrition. A semi decent meal followed alongwith some much needed nicotine.

Here begin the second phase of a pre-meditated sucky day. The equation was simple, too many things to do, too little cash. ….

Any self respecting metalhead will acknowledge the role Metallica’s music has played in edging him/her forward towards exploring ‘heavier’ music.Even after going through the most obscure of bands and metal sub genres a metalhead still finds time to rattle his neck off to “Master of Puppets” or sway to the sheer awesomness of “Fade to Black”. I could go on for hours as to why Metallica pwns, but considering that this is a “Bands oughta retire ” post, I think I should stop here

No denying that Metallica left an indelible mark on music, they’d make a better impression if they just called the quits after the disaster of an album “Saint Anger”. Nobody can escape old age and thrash isnt something a bunch of pissed off daddies can pull off. After watching some of their recent concerts and experiencing classics like “one” getting butt raped by the VERY band that created them, I was nothing short of horror struck . To be honest , I actually liked “Death magnetic” for a few days. But after close introspection and 25 different listens, the sheer suckage that was packed in the album got to me.

If a 40 plus urban dad on the mike wasn’t creepy enough, the recycled riffs and time signatures made the album more repulsive to my ears, for example, “The day that never comes” was a poor attempt at recreting “Fade to black”. I feel that the album was a feeble attempt at recreating the whole “pissed off teenager who hates just about everything” image that lead them to where they are today. Overall, the only parameters that make me remember the album are repetitive riffs, grumpy vocals, TIRED drumming and solos that are capable of cracking glass.

All I want to say is, they’ve had your day, they’ve immortalized themselves, they’ve made a fan out of millions and have pioneered thrash, but I think I’d like it better if they just retired and live off the legacy they created.

Following my usual “Sleep at 4, wake up 12 hours later” schedule, I was merrily dreaming about the lone bullet in my sniper rifle when I was rudely awakened by my cousin, who wanted me to accompany her to the PG where she’ll be staying. After an hour of rolling on bed, when salvation was just a foot away, my bro shakes me awake again. I gave up all hopes of getting back to sleep and tried to carry on with my day. But 3 weeks of not seeing the day before noon can have adverse effects, the TV was boring, the newspapers just seemed to drag on, the PC was out of bounds and to top it all off, my head was hurting. After an hour of forcing myself to that was printed around me, I fianlly found salvation in my MP3 player. An hour of Decapitated, Dying Fetus and Meshuggah was enough to liven up my senses and I was back on track(almost…). Then Mr L calls up and invites me over for some old school Age OF Empires 2 combat. Here is where the fun begin. 4 players + 1 ORIGINAL CD(practically unheard of in these piracy stricken lands) was something that would not work out. Then Mr L came up with the revolutionary idea of creating an image of the play disc and burning it into 3 different discs and carrying on with life. 3 failed attempts yo install nero later, we FINALLY managed to conjour up an image we so desperately sought, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE IMAGE WAS OF THE WRONG GAME ALTOGETHER. So we ended up with 3 discs which were of absolutely NO EFFING USE! But as fate would have it, I found an ancient CD with the game in it buried under a heap of all the “backup” DVD’s I made(most of them scratched beyond recagonition now). With glee in our hearts we hopped from cafe to cafe hoping for a seat but there were none. FINALLY after securing seats and installing the game, it goes kaput and we are left back at square one. An agonizing hour of counter strike passed and we all carried on as though nothing ever happened. This waa followed by an hour of roaming about, football and finally a trip to a friends place, where I plan to spend the rest of the night. The only thing from today is, DONT rely on original CD’s(and that nero can be unforgiving if you;re incapable of using it properly).

I had severely overdosed on Tom Hodgkinsons “How To Be Idle” the previous night, so the book still crept in my thoughts, which prompted me to get out of bed not a minute before 4 in the noon. At about 4:30, my limbs stirred awake and I was greeted by the sight of my dad sleeping, which edged me to sleep more. I somehow resisted the urge to get horizontal and got started with orienting myself to suit the land of the living again. Just when I was about to make myself the essential cup of coffee, I dropped the mug. In a bid to try to piece it together, I ended up with a nice little “T” like incision in my arm. This, I felt was the pointer to an absolutely horrid day and braced myself for the worst. I spent the next 4 hours trying to get rid of the elusive virus that has been plauging my system for a while(I think I could have succeeded had it not been for the prick who passes off as my elder bro, who just HAD to keep inputting me with pseudo gyaan every now and then). By this point of time, my lungs craved for nicotine and I exited my house at 9 in the night, much to the dismay of my folks, who wanted to vaporize me with their stares. After a brief walk and a good benson and hedges, I returned home to rot away for the rest of the night. A truly uneventful day, these are the kind that I dreaded enduring when I coined the term “vacation monotone”.
